Braces today—more comfortable, less intrusive
These days, there are more options that ever before when it comes to orthodontic treatment. Traditional, metal braces are still one of the most practical and popular choices for many cases, but depending on the treatment needed, other options, such as clear braces, Invisalign® and ceramic braces, may be appropriate.
Types of braces
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made from high-grade stainless steel and though they are considered more traditional than other treatment options, modern metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive than ever before. You can even choose fun shapes.
Ceramic braces are made of translucent material and appear clear or tooth-colored. This makes them a very popular option among adult patients because of their enhanced cosmetic and aesthetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.
Invisalign® & Invisalign Teen®
The Invisalign System is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult and teen patients and treatment can be completed in as little as 6 months.
